Feature request : priority for gab sync
-
If I configure an Outlook profile on a large mailbox, the first synchronization can take hours. New e-mails and the inbox have priority, that’s fine. But to start working with Outlook the user has to wait for the GAB. Unfortunately the gab is the last folder that is synced, even “deleted items” came before the address book.
An option to give priority to the GAB sync in KOE or z-push would be useful.

why is that so? the presence of the gab should have no influence on replying to mails (only exception would be template substitution for signatures).
We do have a ticket to give a progress indicator for this, but cannot really change the order in which folders are synced. The ticket can be found at https://jira.kopano.io/browse/KOE-24

Same “problem” here. The user will not work without the GAB. I know it is silly, but it would help us, too.

as in “the person” refuses to do so?

Yes - the person…as I wrote before, it is silly. But it makes your product less good than others in a way…:/

It is hard to explain the users, that with the new profile the nk2 file is empty and needs to be filled over the time. The GAB is then the only source for new addresses for the average (restricted memory) user. It is also used as the company phone book or office directory.
Of course there are workarounds, like using Webapp while the sync takes place. But not accepted from the most of our users… -
I’m not quite sure if this is really a problem, that can be solved with technology.
