sendas with new mail missing feature?

Hi,

sendas works fine when replying from a shared folder.
Is it possible to write a new mail from a shared folder (eg shared inbox user “info”) using Outlook KOE?

Use case:
All users got access on “info” account, added inbox and send folder as shared Folders.
Answering mails works fine with sendas, all send mails stored in send folder from “info” account.
New mails with “from” out of this shared inbox are send as origin account, to change “reply to” doesn’t fit this use case because send mails are stored in the origin user (in case of vacation nobody can access those mails).

Hi @HBO ,

just gave this a spin and this works for me as expected.

I can open a new mail, click the dropdown in the from section, for addresses not already added I can add them via “Other Email Address…” (specifying my Kopano account in the “send using” dropdown). see also https://kb.intermedia.net/Article/2165##SendOnBehalf for some screenshots of the progress.

Tested it like screenshots, doesn’t work for any accounts (with WebApp no problems).
Answering on an email with sendas works fine. Is there any debug possibility?

Using Outlook 2016 with KOE 1.6.282, z-push2.3.9 and Kopano 8.5.4

what kind of error message do you get? what exactly happens?

I get no error messages, new mail is send without error from user account. It ignores “from” value.

Kopano Spooler log has no errors, answering on received mails with sendas shows:

You don’t need to download something, it’s like adware popup. After closing popup you can click again this blue download button and download the whole file (without any adware). It’s too big for pastebin, about 10mb.

I had a look at your log.
The email is sent without the X-Push-Sender header and this way, Z-Push does not invoke the send-as, but sends the email from the authenticated user account.

I guess you do select the FROM address manually when you send the new mail?

Correct, it’s not filled automatically. I have to set the FROM address manually.
Works fine for answering on existing mail, but not on new mail.

But that’s the whole thing. If you just hit “new mail” in Outlook and want to send as an address different from your primary account you always need to set the from manually. There is no automated way to say “I am currently in folder X, so I want to send with address y”.

Before I understood you like “I can set a differing from in a new mail, but that option is not honoured when the email is sent”.

Since you are using the release version I guess you have a subscription?

I still feel like we are misunderstanding each other, i’d recommend to get in contact with our support. Talking in person often helps to clear up confusion.
