End of active sync ?.

I came across the following article, and i was wondering the effects for Z-Push

I got some trouble to connect a outlook2019 towards kopano and while searching for a solution I stumbled upon a Microsoft article. Apparently Microsoft exchange team isnt such a great fan of activesync active sync support for office365 users ends. this might have some impact if also future updates of ‘normal’ outlook might no longer have it (its not written like that, though i dont think its a good sign for us). I’m not sure what the alternatives would be, as mapi got out of favour to by kopano.

Hi @handyman,

that same link got discussed here on the forum in the past already. The article does not say that ActiveSync in itself is discontinued for Office 365 users, but rather basic auth as a method of logging into ActiveSync (and IMAP and Pop3) is.

To me it reads as the Exchange dev team has lost interest in it.
Its an important team within MS (not only because they do Email).
But that team did many things first, if you look at their past.
Essentially, Active Directory had a spinoff in Exchange 55,
Sharepoint, Microsoft Lync, they all had their roots there.

@handyman what’s there to read? The article is entitled “End of support for Basic Authentication access to Exchange Online API’s for Office 365 customers”. And it talks about the migration to Oauth 2. That’s great news, actually, since they are applying it to their Exchange Online clients. That’s good, prudent, Zero-Trust access. Unaffected are all the rest of the hosted servers, premises servers, and other Exchange servers that do not implement Zero-Trust. This won’t affect Z-Push; might even boost it for those clients that don’t want the Oauth 2.0 migration.

@telecom2k3 its more a sign MS is heading towards, kopano went to activesync because of frequent changes in outlook mapi
