eMails with ICS attachments
-
Hello Forum,
I received an eMail (flight booking) that contains several ICS attachments besides a PDF and some text.
The WebApp shows this eMail as an appointment, removing the original body as well as all ICS attachments. Is there a setting of some kind to avoid this behavior?
Also, not WebApp related, the eMail will not show up in Outlook at all (when viewed via ActiveSync).
Thanks
Michael

Hi Michael,

Kopano dagent converts such an email to an appointment (that’s why webapp displays it as an appointment) and Z-Push prevents messages of other class than the folder class (in this case an appointment in an email folder) being synced to mobile devices or Outlook over ActiveSync because it will break their sync (e.g. Outlook would just display refreshing folder without actually doing nothing).

Dear all
May I join the discussion please ?
We entered in the same situation recently with a fligh booking company in Switzerland named FI…SS.
Our email server is Zarafa server version 7.2.6-10 with , z-push-Kopano 2.4.3.0
Client Side this is Windows 10 and Office 2016 with Kopano Outlook Extension 2.0-331 and Active Sync so.The symptom is the same, the person do not see anything in his outlook 2016, but from The Kopano DeskApp 2.3.7 or 2.4.1 the “email is there”, unread,
as a “calender item” and the important document that we need are attached so visible. The issue for the end-user is that he is not aware an appointement is blocked somewhere so he can not see it in Outlook 2016 and he need to open Kopano DesktApp to have it.
I understand the explanation but my question is : is this behavior a “bug” or a “feature” ?
is there any plan to improve this (JIRA number ?) or is it already improved with some new/planned version of the KOPANO-SERVER or the DAGENT or Z-PUSH or KOE component ?Also strange for me, similar “calendar item” coming from outside and including attachment (from other Kopano server, from Outlook 365) are passing well to the Outlook 2016, surely they do not use ICS but something else so, is there any advice we can give to the external company FI…SS to deliver to us such appointment + document in a better way that those ICS files ?
Many thanks in advance,

Hi Chris,
From Z-Push point of view having an appointment in an email folder is a bug because the devices are not able to handle it, so Z-Push prevents this from happening. Webapp / Deskapp are able to display such items, so from their point of view it’s a feature.
In Z-Push we could only add a log entry which you could monitor, but then still you would only be able to open it in Webapp or Deskapp.
In order to sync those emails to Outlook via Z-Push, the handling in dagent must be changed. There is a JIRA issue to follow this up: https://jira.kopano.io/browse/KC-1555.@CMABSL said in eMails with ICS attachments:

I guess if they would sent the flight information as a pdf attachment or in the email body as plain text, it would work fine. That would not be so nice for the client which are able to parse the ics data though.
