Issue with german special chars

We have a strange problem since update of z-push and kopano core. We have some Outlook 2016 clients with active sync.
Names with special character (äüö etc) are garbled with outlook in the webapp and on mobile devices the characters are ok.The issue seems to be only with old users.
I created a new user with those characters to test, there is no problem.Hünz Häöß is the new user. If you send mail to him, in “gesendete Objekte” all is fine.
If you sent a mal to an old user, there is garbage in the name.

can you specify from which version to which newer version you updated? Please also include the version of vmime.

are the special chars only broken in the sent items folder of the sender? Are they correct for the recipient?
Did you also update Outlook recently?

Broken characters appear in every folder. If i receive a mail from an old user the chars are garbled, from an new user the chars are ok.
Outlook has not been updated.
