Kopano Web Meetings - Wrong audio device for output will be used
-
Hi all,
since I have updated Kopano DeskApp to version 2.x I’m facing a minor issue with my headset when I want to use Kopano WebMeetings. During a call the Windows default sound device (speakers) will be used for audio output.
Before the update (version 1.9.7) I was able to select/use my connected headset for both, audio input and output as well. The option “Play audio on same device as selected microphone” under advanced settings is checked.
As the behavior is the same now when I use DeskApp or WebApp, I asume that the issue is on the backend side (user profile?).
To workarround this I change my Windows default audio device upfront a call - not a big thing but a bit annoying. Would be great if someone can have a look or let me know how this can be fixed.
Thanks and best regards

Hi all,
sorry for bumping this topic, but I was still not able to find a fix for this.
I was able to reproduce this on fresh installed machine even with a different user account - For me it really seems that the switch “Play audio on same device as selected microphone” is broken in Kopano Desktop versions >2.x.
Going back to version 1.9.7 everything is working as expected.
Would be really great if someone could have a look.
Thanks and best regards

Since you are experiencing this with DeskApp and WebApp I moved the topic.
I don’t work on the webmeetings plugin, but found an old report: https://jira.kopano.io/browse/KWP-33
and some various Chromium reports such as https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=791899
You might want to look into that direction. Can you repro this on Firefox?

Hello marty,
thank you for having a look and your reply!
This bug reported on chromium.org (https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=791899), sounds quite similar to my issue.
Unfortunatley no solution for this was mentioned.Yes, I was able to repro this on Firefox as well. On Firefox the option “Play audio on same device as selected microphone” is not even there ?!

The feature to play audio on the sink which is associated to the selected input device is non standard and only available on Chromium. Only if support for the feature is detected, the corresponding option is available in the ui.
If the feature is detected, means you see the check box “Play audio on same device as selected microphone” and it does not work but has worked in the past it might mean that the environment does no longer support it. You say that it does not work in Deskapp 2, how about a current version of Chromium/Chrome? Does it work there?

Hello longsleep,
thank you for your feedback!
I just did the following tests (while Kopano Deskapp version 2.3.11 is installed):
Kopano Deskapp - failed, uses wrong (windows default - speakers) audio device
Kopano Webapp on Chrome - failed, uses wrong (windows default - speakers) audio device
Kopano Webapp on FireFox - failed, uses wrong (windows default - speakers) audio deviceThen I repeated the tests while Kopano Deskapp version 1.9.7 was installed:
Kopano Deskapp - succsess, uses selected audio device (headset)
Kopano Webapp on Chrome - failed, uses wrong (windows default - speakers) audio device
Kopano Webapp on FireFox - failed, uses wrong (windows default - speakers) audio device -
I think Deskapp 1.9.7 was still based on Chromium 64,
so you should test the same version with WebApp, see if it works. But since it’s also broken in Chrome, you have better luck opening a bug report with those guys.

thanks for the hint, but as I dont have a subscription I dont have clue how to open a bug report - can you please advise?
