Zarafe to Kopona
-
Dear all,
I’m running a zarafa 7.2.1 Pro and I would like to gradually migrate users over to the Kopano on a freshly installed RH7 server environment. Instead of a bigbang migration I would like to move mailboxes over one by one so I can also upgrade the outlook&plugin.
However, as 7.2.1 mailbox backups are not comptabile with Kopano, I’m looking for a way to backup and restore user mailboxes from the zarafa to Kopano server one-by-one.
Any ideas/suggestions on how to tackle this?
regards,

Hi i think best will be to export mailbox through outlook into pst file and then import through outlook (zarafa outlook client should work for that import - but is no more usable with shared calendar - so for production you need KOE with active sync)or kopano-pst-migration tool on kopano server

Hi @joost001 ,
while you could point kopano-backup towards your old server and use it to transport data to your new server since doing it one by one will normally create the bigger user confusion, than just upgrading in place (especially sind you can still connect the old mapi client against Kopano). Just think of the overhead for mail distribution, accessing shared and public folders, free/busy data…

Hi @fbartels,
While inplace upgrading is indeed a possibility, I actually would like to move as well from rhel6 to rhel7 hence my preference to move towards a new environment (shared/public folders, free busy & shared agenda’s are not used in this environment at this stage). Can I run the zarafa client next to the new kopano plug-in on the client side (even if outlook versions are only 2007?).

No kopano KOE works only with outlokk 2013 and 2016
But as fbartels said you may backup your zarafa with kopano-backup tool from the new kopano install by pointing to the zarafa server as source and restore to the new kopano serverrg
