Re: Kopano ONE is no longer in development
Hi there Team Kopano,
We are a server and email host based in South Africa. Our primary solution to our small and medium sized based has always been WHM/cPanel and Virtualmin.
For most small businesses this works really well.
The problem we encounter is when those businesses grow and want to become more organized and want things like calendar and contact sharing. In the past we “lost” them to Office 365 and Google Workspace. We since been recommended Kopano and we’ve done a large scale installation so far and it’s great.
So far I am loving the product. I’m trying to piece together the history of the product and the current development status. I noticed on BitBucket the source code hasn’t been updated much in 2022. So far that isn’t a problem because everything just seems to work.
Can someone give me a quick overview of the history and where it’s going?
- 1st = Zarafa
- Now is Kopano
- Kopano One is more
Both community and paid versions.
Any kind of roadmap?

Hi @eugenevdm,
for business inquiries, please reach out to the Kopano sales team through: https://kopano.com/contact-information/

@fbartels thanks so much for replying.
I guess it wasn’t entirely clear if it’s a business or open source enquiry.
For now the question is about open source - do you guys anticipate to continue a community based tier for Kopano? Also is there any reason why I can’t post on the forums? :-)
So as soon as I get my clients on-board and committed to the solution I’ll reach out if I need to make a business enquiry.

New users always go into a moderation queue for their first post to prevent spam bots.
What you are referring to as a community version are merely nightly development builds that come without any promises of functionality or other guarantees. If you want to offer commercial services on top of Kopano I would still recommend to reach out to the Kopano sales team.

Will there be new nighly builds in future and for Debian 11 Bullseye ? Last ones are from february and only for Buster (10)

@irrlicht I am aware of an effort to make Debian 11 available for customers, but I am not involved in these plans.
