Unable update a single event in a recurring series

When I attempt to edit a single event in a series, the edit fails - either partially or completely. I’ve found two instances/manifestations of this issue that I can reliably reproduce. I will add more if I can.
Instance 1
When an organizer deletes/cancels an event in the series, an attendee is sent a notification with a button to ‘Remove From Calendar’. Clicking on this button does not remove the event from the attendee’s calendar. In this case, the event name will eventually update to be prefixed with “Cancelled” and the attendee is able to manually delete this event by right-clicking on the event and selecting delete. When a single event is cancelled in the same way, clicking ‘Remove From Calendar’ removes the event from the calendar.I am expecting the cancelled event to be removed like it does when it is not part of a series. What is preventing this event from a series from being removed like a single event?
Instance 2
If a category tag is added to a single event in a series of events, then that event must have at least one category on it after that. Initially, this issue looked like the inability to remove categories, but categories can be removed if by doing so you still leave at least one category on the event. In other words, the last category won’t be able to be removed. So you can swap categories around on that event, but cannot remove them entirely once a category has been added. On a single event, I am able to remove all categories that I’ve added.I am expecting that it would be possible to remove all categories from any event regardless of whether it is a single event or part of a series. What is preventing me from removing that final category?
To reproduce
- Open Webapp Calendar, create a series with at least two events (e.g. daily meeting 10-11am)
- In the Calendar week view, right-click on one of the events in this series.
- Select Categories > Manage Categories and Add a category.
- Verify that the category was added to event.
- Right-click on the same event again, and Select Categories > Manage Categories
- Un-check the category and click Apply.
- The Calendar will reload and the category will still exist on the event. The same steps on a non-series event remove this category.
- At this point, adding another category will “release” the first category allowing it to be removed, but now the second category cannot be removed.
- I tried deleting the second category, but this does not remove it from the event or the system as it still exists in the category list.

This is something that has been plaguing my installation as well. Calendar events are completely unreliable for attendees. The minute I make an adjustment (new attendee) or remove, the invitations more often than not disappear out of even my own calendar.
I too am using 11.0.2.

I was able to test in 8.7 as well and this still exists in Kopano Core 8.7.
