What is the kopano daemon: smtpstd?
-
Hello,
today I upraded my test install from 11.0.1 to 11.0.2.23.
I noticed that there is a new daemon named smtpstd listening on port 10025 and prevents postfix to start.Does anybody know what is it for?
Thanks!

@jacsa you should only install it if you plan to use it. Can you please give details why it prevents your postfix from starting?
See https://stash.kopano.io/projects/KGOL/repos/smtpst/browse/README.md for the software source and information what it actually is.

@longsleep in my configuration postfix’s master daemon listening on port 10025 waiting for filtered e-mails from amavisd. Thank you for the README URL!

@jacsa all right sure - if you have something else listening on 10025 you can of course change the smtpst configuration to listen somewhere else. Not sure if it’s a common thing to have something on 10025 - would you suggest that we change the default port for smtpst?

@longsleep well, there are several HOWTOs on the web for postfix+amavis+postgrey configuration. In these HOWTOs postgrey is listening on 10023, amavisd on 10024 and amavisd sends back e-mails to postfix on 10025. I googled for 10026 and 10027 and I also found some howtos in this topic. So yes I would suggest to change the default port from 10025 to 10028. Thanks.

One question, I did not understand until now why smtpstd is needed. Postfix can transfer mails encrypted - smtps, then what is the purpose of smtpstd from Kopano?
