How to best preserve/archive my data (on a user basis)?

I have used Zarafa for years, and then Kopano. I just used it for my personal Calendar+Contacts+Tasks+Notes (so just one user, no groupware functions or email).

More than ten years ago, when I started using Zarafa, I imported all my local Outlook data (which I synced with my iPAQ back then). And this data in turn was imported from Palm Pilot. So I have basically my life of stuff stored in Kopano.

I am planning to retire my Kopano installation.

What is the best way to store and archive all data without data loss? Possibly into a pst file? How do I do it?
Furthermore, what is the best way to store/archive my data into a more standardized format? (Maybe iCal etc.)? By definition, there may be some loss of data.

Ideally, I’d do both of them. (and additionally take a last mysql dump, just in case).

one way would be to install outlook (no license needed - you can run with the trial period) on one windows pc and setup the kopano mail account through activesync connection (you don’t need KOE for that) and then export the account as pst from outlook

@externa1 Thanks, that I can do (I have Outlook full version).

But does ActiveSync really grab all data (all items 1-2 decades back plus all fields in every object)?

yes it should - you have to set time frame to “all”
mail, kalendar,tasks and contacts are synced and exported

@divb another possibility would be to use python-kopano to export these items in a more open format. I also found old “Zarafa Migration Tool”. Is this a good idea?

@divb that should work as well, but also requires the old mapi client and an installed Outlook. Plus it only gives you a pst file.
