Memory consumption when moving many emails
-
Hi,
I cleaned my folders today and noticed an interesting behaviour. When I move a few hundret emails from one folder to another the system gets unusable for a minute and memory consumption raises from a few 100 mb (I had some other tabs opened too) to over 10 GB. After a few minutes it all dropped to normal, the system was responsive again and I could continue to work. CPU load never exceeded 25% and network was constantly at 0 %. With task manager etc. I was able to find the cause for the “hanging” system and just wait, but for a normal user who just wants to do some housekeeping in his inbox this must be frustrating. Is it possible to implement some kind of progress bar here so that the user at least knows what’s on and doesn’t reboot his laptop thinking the … system hung up?
Kind regards, Hermann -
@ott I’ve experienced similar but on Outlook 2010, where deleting or moving lots of emails at once would hang my current session, but other users not affected while the operation running.
