grammm.com - project

Is this a spin-off of Kopano? At least their software is.
Using a demo login from https://grammm.com/demo/ you can login into a slightly modified Webapp.
This is remarkable as the source of the frontend is nowhere mentioned on the marketing pages and hidden in settings - about.
Their source code is available at https://github.com/grammm-dev . And this is not nice https://github.com/search?q=org%3Agrammm-dev+kopano&type=commits
the project uses code from us (Kopano), but is not supported by us. We were also surprised by the news article and are evaluating the situation for the time being.

Heyho I found the same article while drinking my morning coffee. First I thought “wow an open source exchange alternative which is supporting EWS” Than I had seen the Webapp screenshot and was shocked.
From Github it looks like that they have started 17 months ago and are going commercial now. So not a good alternative as they are missing many years of experience which the Kopano and former Zarafa crew made.
BUT the EWS support is very interesting and something we are missing quite much, because many third party programs are using this to connect to Exchange. I know why Kopano doesnt want to create an EWS connector and Zarafa quit the MAPI support but maybe there is someone generating some EWS expertise and maybe maybe Kopano might make profit from that in the future.

I think their solution only implements the parts of EWS that are required for the Outlook connection, so its not a full EWS, but only one that provides Addressbook information. But fear not, because for the integration topic we have our own approach with our MS Graph compatible RestAPI.
You can read about it in:

@fbartels ok Im surprised. Never heard that Kopano is working on Graph or Kraph.
Thanks for the links Felix. I will work through that.
EWS for the trash bin Kraph here I come =)
You guys are doing a great job.
@Pax thanks for the praise and you’re welcome. Yes, external communication has always been a weak spot for us, but we are working on improving this aspect.
Since late last year we have been constantly upping our “game” in regards to our blog. We are currently also running a survey to learn more about how users not already familiar with our solution are organising their daily work: https://twitter.com/kopanobv/status/1364847698772451328

@fbartels i testet the ISO yesterday and it seem to be nearly full EWS. But there were some crashes and the support costs are nearly double of Kopanosupport.
