Evaluating Kopano for Ubuntu 18.04 - no success
-
Hi,
I am evaluating a server upgrade from Ubuntu version 16.04 to 18.04.
I checked out https://download.kopano.io/community/core and found it had a version 9.0.2. But I can’t find any mention of a version 9 ever being released.
I went ahead anyway and installed it on a fresh Ubuntu 18.04 and ran in to several problems.
The first problem was ‘K-1561: chmod “/var/run/kopano/prio.sock”: Operation not permitted’.
I added the apparmor profiles, but that did not help.
So tried running kopano-server as user root instead of kopano. It got me past the error, into the next: ‘mysql_real_connect: Access denied for user ‘root’@‘localhost’ (using password: NO)’. The server.cfg clearly says to use mysql_user kopano with a mysql_password, but apparently, this gets ignored.I get that this may be a non-functional development version, but I now have no way of establishing if I can get Kopano to work properly on an upgraded server.
I won’t upgrade a production server unless I have been able to do so in a testing environment.
Is there any way to get a known to be working on Ubuntu 18.04 Kopano release, without buying a subscription for a testing server? -

A subscription is not bound to a server/IP so you can use the same credentials to setup Kopano in your test environment.

@Erik no, does not sound familiar at all.

Hmm, weird. Unless I run into the same problem(s) with an official release on Ubuntu 18.04, I trust it is not worth looking into.

Is there an official install guide for 18.04?

@JungleMarc the closest thing to this is https://kb.kopano.io/display/WIKI/Kopano+Groupware+Installation
