Quick question about kopano?
-
Hi,
Recently trying to move from pure postfix to a groupware, im between zimbra o kopano. Im curious about the paid vs the free?
does kopano have out of the office response?
I was looking around did not find a really clear guide on installing on ubuntu 18.04
when installing kopano does amavis install?
what are the min requirements to install?
does zpush come when installing? or does it have to be installed separatelyThank you

Hi @killmasta93,

Buying a subscription gives you access to tested releases as well as our support and some other helpers that make an installation easier (package repositories for example).

of course

Not specific to 18.04, but we do have step by step intructions at https://kb.kopano.io/display/WIKI/Kopano+Groupware+Installation

No, MTA configuration mostly remains a task for the admin. Kopano does not require a single specific MTA, but just needs one that can accept mails via unauthenticated smtp for sending from Kopano and is capable of utilising delivery via lmtp or pipe for receiving mails.

In which sense? Have you already seen https://documentation.kopano.io/kopanocore_administrator_manual/installing.html#system-requirements ?

Z-Push still is a separate install, but since the Kopano backend is the default one you just need to install and then can immediately forget about it (no need for additional configuration, installing files from extra repositories or configuration in Kopano because of Z-Push).

Thank you for the reply, so odd did not get an email alert just happened to check the forums so sorry for the late reply,
will give it a go on a ubuntu 16.04 as it seems that the guide is for 16.
so if understood correctly on the guide the core would be kopano, the webapp such as NGINX would the web interface for the mail WebGUI, and then i would install postfix separately?ill post back any updates
Thank you

I was looking at the guide on the installation it said that i need a serial key to access the repo to install? if i dont have the key how could i install it?
-
There is download.kopano.io/supported (with key) and download.kopano.io/community (without key).

I would not install a new machine with Ubuntu 16.04 anymore, while it may not be explicitly mentioned (I did not write the linked guide) the steps for 18.04 should be mostly the same.

yes, that sounds about right.
