For clear understanding: kDav, Kopano Core, invitations, free/busy-information
-
Hello,
I’m sorry, but I have difficulties to clearly understand what kDav is. I understand, that it is a new realisation of the caldav protocol in Kopano. But, for recent versions of Kopano Core: is it already implemented in Kopano Core? Or do I have to install it seperatedly? Which are the advantages / disadvantages compared to kopano-ical? Is it more reliable concerning invitations, getting free/busy information (espacially on Apple clients)?
In which cases does it make sense giving it a try?Best regards
Thomas

Hi @q5616417,
no kdav is still something that you would need to install manually. Feedback and requests for it are not as many as we had hoped, therefore it’s also not very high on our list at the moment (which is also the reason why there are still no packages for it).
In theory (since it builds upon sabredav) client compatibility should be better with it. in add to caldav it could also provide carddav.

Hello Felix,
thank you for your answer. So, I installed kdav to try it out. You say, that it’s not very high on your list. Does that mean, it makes not much sense posting issues / questions here?Best regards

It’s actually quite the opposite (as Felix also said) - it’s not very high on the list because there aren’t much feedback/requests. So, either everybody is satisfied with what kdav is capable of or there aren’t a lot of kdav users. That’s why every feedback is important, even if it’s a short as “It works” or “I did X and it didn’t work”.

So, i tried to find out which combination works best. Here’S my results:
Maybe (in fact surely) for some of the points I simply have a lack of knowledge, so I did not get it to work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. From my current point of view, kdav does not bring great improvements compared to the “classical” kopano-ical. Users who dont like to work with webapp / deskapp may give thunderbird a try. Apple calendar seems to be very poorly supported which definately is a pity, because I like to avoid having several apps installed who all do the same thing.
Best regards

Hi @q5616417,
many thanks for your detailed tests. Do you mind sharing your table?

Good morning,
I surely would share the table but when trying to upload it here, I get an error message because of insufficient permissions. Do you have an e-mail-address or something else so that I can send the table to you?Best regards

@q5616417 sure, just send it to feedback at Kopano dot io.
