Files 2.1.0 final is available

Kopano Files boosts your productivity by allowing you to use your existing storage solutions right from the WebApp interface. You can work together on files and projects, with team members both in- and outside of your organisation. Today we are ready to release Kopano Files 2.1.0 final, which provides a big improvement to sharing a file or folder using ownCloud, gives more control to the system administrator and improves the performance.
So what is new in version 2.1?
Sharing files and folders made easier
Kopano Files leverages the API that ownCloud provides to share folders and files. This release takes the next step in making that as easy as possible for the user. When searching for a user or group to share a file or folder with, Kopano Files will retrieve all the matching users from ownCloud. This allows you to work with all users your ownCloud system ‘knows’ – it also works if your system is not connected to the same ActiveDirectory or LDAP that your Kopano server is connected to. Just start typing to see available users and groups! In order to be able to use this feature you need at least ownCloud 8.2 or newer!More control for the system administrator
With this release the system administrator gets the ability to not only ‘inject’ new files settings for users within the organization, they can also make sure these settings can not be changed by the user. They will be able to see and use the account, but changing its settings will be prohibited. Creating these new accounts with a ‘cannot be changed’ flag is done through a command-line script. Details can be found in the documentation of Kopano Files.Performance improvements
This release also takes care of some performance improvements. Caching has been improved by the upgrade of fastcache and support for Nginx has been improved. As a user you also get more feedback when uploading a large amount of files. And a lot more
- User interaction improvements
- Improved handling for FTP backend
- Added support for nextCloud
- Resolved a lot of bugs
Check out the changelog for a full list of changes in this release!
Where do I get the packages?
The easiest way to install this update is through the repositories (check out this KB article if you want more info). Using the repositories also ensures that you get the dependencies you need (like php-smbclient), built for your linux distribution. Alternatively, you can use the portal or directly access the download server or use the portal. Detailed information on tickets resolved in this release can be found in the changelog, right next to the documentation. -
