Performance tweaking: kopano-search
-
Hello everyone, I hope all of you are doing well and kept safe from covid.
I find when kopano-search has to rebuild it’s database, it can be process intensive.
Is it a good thing to stop that service during daytime?
Is there a practical way to limit the priority of kopano-search?
I am currently on quad core, thinking upgrading that system to eight core overnight.
Another detail, I had to clear the search cache a few months ago as well because the search function was not returning correct results. I found mention of this on the forum.
My 2nd question: is it a good thing to automatically rebuild the search cache every 8 weeks? What’s the best way to approach this?
Otherwise, very happy with the setup. Any links or advice to best practices for performance would be appreciated.
Looking forward hearing of your suggestions, stay safe :)

That depends on your overall amount of data, users and hardware. Generally speaking this is not required.

No, that should not be necessary.

@fbartels you are correct.
I did a reboot on the server, and it did wonders.
kopano-search, kopano-server processes not as cpu hungry anymore.
The search function has been good past week.
Case closed :P
