Users without personal e-mail address, only using shared mail?
-
Hi all,
we would like to have some users in Kopano, that have Kopano-accounts, but no dedicated e-mail address.
In this intended use case, several users should share one inbox (e.g. “sales@…”) and none of them is supposed to have a personal address, the shared mail should be the default inbox / account (including appointments, tasks, notes…) for all of them.
Is that possible, an how can it then be achieved?
Greetings

@tahrens said in Users without personal e-mail address, only using shared mail?:
Is that possible
No, that is not possible. Every user always has a mailbox of their own and therefore also a personal email address (that you could still decide to not deliver to from externally).

Hi Felix,
thanks for the quick response. Will the emails to the address(es) of the user(s) be deliverd internally, and I suppose it is possible to prevent that the users send emails to external with their sender address?

Hi @tahrens,
even messages from one user to another are always processed by your MTA (for example Postfix). For the “prevent sending part” you can have a look at http://www.postfix.org/RESTRICTION_CLASS_README.html

Thx for the hint, I’ll read through that part of the postfix documentation!

I think there is an easy solution to your request:
- Create a normal user called sales.
- Give all people who should only send e-mails as sales the password for that Kopano account.
Problem solved. They can all log in and have full control of the sales mailbox but nothing else.
