      Hi,

      last night a customers univention server, that hosted the kopano (ucs package), changed the computer password (/etc/machine.secret). Unfortunately the password change ist not forwarded to the kopano-server (/etc/kopano-ldap.secret) and also not to /etc/kopano/ldap.cfg.

      In the univention forum I found a thread, that there has to be a Kopano script on “/usr/lib/univention-server/server_password_change.d/70kopano”, but there is nothing similar.

      I copied the the password from machine.secret to kopano-ldap.secret and ldap.cfg, so the system is functionally again. But the next password change is in 21 days.

      Is there any tool/package missing?

        From your package list you can see that the kopano4ucs package is not installed. Looking at the version numbers of the other kopano4ucs packages it seems you did not install the latest app update before upgrading to 8.7.7.

          thanks for the hint. The update is done by ucs policy. When I try to install it, there are unfulfilled dependencies:

            @BusinessTux you have to update the app first. only this brings a kopano4ucs that is compatible with Kopano 8.7.7.

              Did you mean the release upgrade? And when yes, why is there no dependency for kopano4ucs?

              I will check the release upgrade.

                It was probably removed when the kopano4ucs package was removed. Doing unattended upgrades, that remove packages are not really a good idea.

                There is an app update available for 4.4 and 4.3 with the version 8.7.1.0-1. this update updates kopano4ucs for compatibility with 8.7.7.

                  Let me get this straight, automatic updates within one release (https://www.univention.de/blog-de/2018/03/kurz-erklaert-wie-lassen-sich-ucs-systeme-automatisch-aktualisieren/), which contain only bugfixes normally, are not recommende by Kopano?

                    your output of univention-app info is not showing the kopano-core app as installed.

                    If you’re just updating packages that is totally ok. Apt on UCS is configured to aggressively remove packages that are either “broken” or no longer required as a dependency. This an action I personally would not do in an automated fashion. Like I said already: doing upgrades that remove packages without human interaction are asking for trouble.

                      So my next step is to remove kopano-core via UCS WUI and reinstall it (again).

                          I’ve set the serial via WUI

   This app now has a new possibility to enable the [1]official Kopano
   package repositories. For this you have to click on the App Settings
   button in the Univention App Center and can then easily configure the
   desired repository from there.

   Once the repository has been activated updates can easily be installed by
   going to Software update and the executing check for package updates.

                            The one idea I would still have is to simply re-register the app by calling univention-app register kopano-core --do-it (this is also documented at https://wiki.z-hub.io/display/K4U/Debugging+Kopano+on+Univention).

                            But if that does not help then contacting the Univention support may indeed be a good idea.

                              doesn’t bring me back kopano-server :-(. kopano4ucs couldn’t installed, because it needs kopano-server and this shouldnt be installed. Better logfiles later. Actually the recovery runs.

                                recovery was successful. Kopano is running again. Automatically updates are deactivated.

                                Recovery comes from a time before automatically updates, so kopano4ucs is back again too.

                                  I’ve tested the registration of kopano-core on two different UCS installations. On both kopano-core is installed in WUI, but not in TUI (univention-app info). The registration don’t bring it back.

                                  On the second server (my test ucs) there was no automatically update installation, so the Kopano installation is through normal ongoing update process broken.

                                  On the customer system with release 4.4.1 kopano4ucs is installed, but because kopano-core is not registred, the apt sources list isn’t created from template

                                  How can I register/install kopano-core, so the Kopano updates are available again?

                                  I hope to get the new apt templates with the updated version of kopano4ucs, so there is an apt repository for UCS 4.4.

                                      It is supported since its release. In fact Kopano was one of the first external apps in the ucs 4.4 appcenter (as usual).

                                      There is no need for a dedicated UCS 4.4 repository, since 4.3 and 4.4 share the same Debian base.

                                        Thats sounds very good for me. I was afraid I updated too early to 4.4.

                                        My solution:

                                        • calling univention-app register kopano-core --do-it
                                        • install kopano4ucs via apt (not univention-install)
                                        • calling univention-upgrade

                                        The sticking point for me was, that the registration only bring back the apt repository (after commit or restart) and then I could install kopano4ucs via apt. After installation of kopano4ucs ‘univention-app info’ shows kopano-core again. Halleluja.
