?utf-8?Q? in mail header

Hi folks,
a few weeks ago I migrated from Zarafa 7.2.x on Debian 9 Jessie to Kopano 8.7.x on Debian 10 Buster.
Most things worked fine out of the box. But, there’s one small isue I cant fix so far.
Using Thunderbird as mua and sending mails directly to the same smtpd Kopano uses all mail header lines look like expected:
To: Otto Normal <otto.normal@test.de>
From: Otto Normal <otto.normal@mydomain.de>
Subject: TEST 1
Date: Mon, 26 Aug 2019 12:38:08 +0200
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=windows-1252
Content-Language: de-DE
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bitDoing the same, but using Outlook 2016, Kopano DeskApp or iOS Mail Client with ActiveSync as mua and sending mail by help of Kopano spooler my my mail header lines look like theses:
From: =?utf-8?Q?Otto_Normal?= <otto.normal@test.de>
To: =?utf-8?Q?Otto_Normal?= <otto.normal@mydomain.de>
Subject: TEST2
Date: Mon, 26 Aug 2019 11:14:47 +0000
Mime-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printableI saw a lot of postings related to this topics and German Umlaute, tried a lot but wasn’t successfull in fixing this problem so far.
Any Idea what’s going wrong and how to fix it?
Thanks in advance and greetinx

Hi @moose,
please post the exact version you are seeing this behaviour with. This has probably been resolved in a never version already.

@moose said in ?utf-8?Q? in mail header:
8.7.0-3
Yes I am pretty sure we did some changes regarding this since that version. Cannot give you a commit at the moment, though.

Well, I saw this post here:
https://jira.kopano.io/browse/KC-1139
But, acutally it should be fixed in/since Release 8.7.0. I.e. Release 8.7.03 shouldn’t be affected, isn’t it?
-
@moose no, that one is about umlauts in subjects. There was another ticket about this.
-
@fbartels I understand, thx!
-
Hi folks,
does anyone else have an idea how to proceed or which ticket @fbartels “There was another ticket about this.” may mean?
Any help would be greatly appriciated!

@moose I wasn’t in the office any more yesterday so I could not look this up further. but scrolling through out changelog the following tickets could be relevant:
- KC-1506 Inetmapi: header with multiple encoded-words not properly displayed by outlook 2016
- KC-1430 Inetmapi: from and to headers are always encoded - even when just ascii, triggering spam filters
In any case, I think you should file an issue on the debian bugtracker. Since we have no influence over the builds provided by the Debian project.

@moose said in ?utf-8?Q? in mail header:
My installed Kopano packges are the default packages from Debian Buster repository:
I have heard that the current default debian (stable) packages/version unfortunately contain some important bugs, which have already been fixed in newer Kopano versions. That’s why you can’t recommend the current Debian packages, you can currently either use Univention (there is a newer Kopano package, also free of charge) or buy a subscription or contact Debian Kopano Maintainer.

Good evening @fbartels and @PRO123,
many thanks for your hints and suggestions!
As I read in Kopano’s jira board I’ll need at least core release 8.7.4+ because this is the first one which fixes both issues @fbartels mentioned above.
Having had a look at https://download.kopano.io/community/ I found core-8.7.82.92.67ad630-Debian_10-amd64.tar is the latest available nightly built.
I just downloaded it and will give it a try after snapshotting my current Kopana installation.
I’ll get back to this thread and post my results.
Until then, I’d kindly ask for your patience. Thank you!
